The UV visible spectrophotometer is a spectroscopic instrument with a high prevalence in laboratories. According to the optical structure, UV-Vis spectrophotometers can be divided into two types,single beam and double beam.

Single-beam UV-Vis spectrophotometer mainly measures by a single beam of light. A beam of light with a given wavelength passes through the contrast and then through the actual sample solution to obtain the absorbance result. For the double-beam UV-Vis spectrophotometer, the light emitted by the same monochromator is separated into two beams by a spectroscopic device to respectively measure the contrast sample and the actual sample.

The dual-beam UV-Vis spectrophotometer uses a single light source beam. Its advantages are that it can be fully enclosed and can be directly separated into two beams through a prism. One beam can pass through the grating, and the two beams enter their respective spot multiplier detectors.The overall sensitivity has been enhanced, and blanks and samples can also be measured directly.

In contrast, the double beam UV visible spectrophotometer can eliminate the error between the reference and sample cuvettes and the influence from factors such as unstable light source and receiver sensitivity changes, which is especially suitable for sample structure analysis.
